SS: Toshiro Mori

A youkai that is both knowledgable and excellent at spying, the kuda-gitsune - aka pipe fox - is a small rat sized fox that can be kept in a tube or pipe. The magic user in possession of such youkai can summon them to answer all questions it is asked. If the kuda-gitsune does not know the information, they use their powers to seek out the information. Through these powers, the youkai can also be considered a excellent spying tool for whoever the kuda-gitsune answers too.

When Toshiro is shifted into his half-youkai form, he has shrunk considerably, to a smaller height then the length of his pipe. Though this is good for spying and hiding when he is sent to collect information from any source he can squeeze into. Like his pure youkai-blooded ancestors, he can fly at twice the speed of normal hawk. He obtains a small dagger that can cut human flesh and cause damage in battle or sneak attack to other foes. Toshiro will even occasionally use his pipe as a weapon to hit people or poke them in the eye if he's pissed off enough. If Toshiro is ever harmed severely, he can expend the rest of his energy to transport to where his pipe is (as long as it is intact). He can only stay in his half-youkai form as long as he has the energy to do so or else will be forced back to full sized. If it comes to this, he must rest a full 10 hours sleep in contact with his pipe. If his pipe is broken, he feels it instantly and it feels like he lost part of himself and cannot transform in either direction. If stuck in his youkai form when this happens and he runs out of energy before it is repaired, he will fall into a coma and eventually die. Energy at full could last anywhere from 36 hours to 12 hours, depending on the tasks involved.

~Condescending: thinks he knows all and looks down on those who don't know the correct answer or are just plan stupid

~Know it all: literally thinks he knows it all, is constantly reading books and writing down information

~Blunt: will give the short and not so sweet answer, never pulls the punches

~Overconfident: thinks he can do it himself, hates when people try to help him in researching

~Stubborn: when he can't find it, does or know to do it or just can't plan to it (usually physically), will never ask for help unless he's stuck

~Curious: Feels the urge to know everything, will stay in hiding, spying, even when it gets dangerous to continue

~Untrusting: doesn't trust anybody around his pipe _{~my precious~} expect the resident he is partnered with and even then it's only when he's off doing things and will usually have a note tied to it threatening death and misery if it's even scratched

Growing up the middle child in a group of 5 is never easy and that is especially so for Toshiro Mori. Not being the eldest or even the second eldest, he was never in line to become heir to continue the clan’s bloodline or reign, as long as his brothers were healthy. And they were healthy. But he wasn’t a political pawn to be married off to another family like his sisters, both younger than he. So, what is he to do? Being invisible, he liked it like that and read books all day, absorbing the information like a sponge due to the Kuda-gitsune bloodline in the family.

He also naturally went exploring through the hidden passages through the family home, finding ways to spy on meetings between his brothers and his parents or meetings discussing power and ways his family could help other families. It was in one of these passages then Toshiro found an old smoking pipe. At that age, he was getting rebellious and bought tobacco to use in it and got hooked. It was using this pipe, though, that Toshiro first understood the other gifts the family’s blood could be used for – the half youkai transformation – which seemed forgotten by everyone, as there were no mentions of it when the bloodline was explained in any meetings, not matter out secretive. Not matter, Toshiro gleemed at the thought of this new spying tool and soon bonded with the pipe.

With the new transformation and spying abilies, Toshiro’s curiosity got the better of him one evening when he noticed an uncle dragging his grandfather – the head of the house before his father – somewhere. Following quickly in half-youkai form, he was shocked to find out that this grandfather that hidden the pipe away from this uncle on orders of his father, fearing that the uncle wasn’t loyal to the family anymore and would somehow use it against them. So shocked by his discovery, Toshiro gave himself away and was instantly attacked by the uncle, enraged some brat was given the pipe. Almost dead, Toshiro heard his grandfather’s orders and somehow found himself back to the pipe in his room in full human form before passing out. When he woke up, his uncle was being kept locked in a room under house arrest and family guard but Toshiro’s father and grandfather decided he’d best leave with the pipe, else Toshiro’s brothers may go after him in jealous if the uncle’s foxy words got to them. They sent him to Maison de Umagoyashi with orders to stay as a resident and keep his head down. Of course, he didn’t listen and, not trusting anyone else with his own safety, went to the owner of Maison de Umagoyashi and volunteered to be an agent, figuring he’d be the best at protecting himself. It shouldn’t be too hard to protect someone else, right?

~As is obvious throughout the application, his pipe is very precious
~He does actually smoke with the pipe, a mild tobacco (or so he says)
~His room is covered wall to wall with shelves of books
~Gets and reads the daily newspapers and anything that seems relative to read (will read trash gossip magazines if he is forced to)
